DOA KU TIDAK MUSTAJAB.....

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH THE MOST BENEFICENT, THE MOST MERCIFUL

"Mengapa engkau datang lagi?" tanya Al-Mansur.

"Saya datang bukan untuk minta wang, tapi untuk menyerahkan wang." jawab Azhar.

"Ada-ada saja engkau ini." Sudah ku katakan engkau jangan datang lagi ke sini sama ada ingin menyerahkan wang atau lainnya, baliklah". Kata Al-Mansur.

Setiap kali Azhar datang, dia melihat bibir Khalifah bergerak-gerak seperti membaca sesuatu doa.

"Baiklah, kalau begitu, aku pulang." kata Azhar

Azhar tetap degil.

"Aku datang kerana hanya ingin melihat Amirul Mukminin saja. Alhamdulillah kalau selalu sihat walafiat". Kata Azhar, lalu pulang.

Kata Azhar.

"Ijazah apa?" tanya Al-Mansur.

"Minta ijazahkan doa yang selalu Amirul Mukminin baca setiap kali aku datang. Tolong bacakan sekali lagi aku ingin menyalinnya."

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH THE MOST BENEFICENT, THE MOST MERCIFUL

KHALIFAH ABBASIYAH ABU JAAFAR AL-MANSUR BERTEMU DENGAN IBN TAWUS DAN IMAM MALIK

Surah Al-Baqarah 2:286), bermaksud;

'Baginya apa yang dikerjakan dan ke atasnya apa yang dikerjakan'

Kisah realiti daripada firman suci ini ialah:

Khalifah Abbasiyah kedua iaitu Abu Jaafar al-Mansur memnaggil Ibn Tawus dan Imam Malik bin Anas menghadapnya. Apabila mereka berdua hadir, Abu Jaafar diam seketika sebelum mengemukakan pertanyaan kepada Ibn Tawus: "Ceritakan kepadaku tentang bapa kamu (Ibn Kaisan al-Tabi'i)".

Abu Jaafar terdiam seketika.Lalu dia menyuruh Ibn Tawus menghulurkannya dakwat tetapi beliau diam dan tidak berbuat apa-apa. Suasana menjadi sunyi sepi.

(Surah al-Baqarah 2:286).

ABU AD-DARDAA

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH THE MOST BENEFICENT, THE MOST MERCIFUL

ABU AD-DARDAA
'What a Wise Man Was He!'

While the armies of Islam were advancing victoriously, there lived in Al-Madiinah a wonderful philosopher and wise man whose wisdom flowed in his blooming bright words. He kept saying to those around him, "Can I tell you about the best of your deeds, which are more thriving and better than invading your enemies, cutting their throats and cutting yours, and better than dirhams and dinars?

Those who listened to him craned and hurried to ask him; "And what is that, O' Abu Ad-Dardaa'?" Abu Ad-Dardaa' resumed his speech and his face glittered with the light of faith and wisdom, "The remembrance of ALLAH; the remembrance of ALLAH is the greatest thing in life."

That wonderful wise man was not preaching an isolationist philosophy by his words. He was not preaching negativism nor the retirement from the responsibilities of the new religion that considers struggle its cornerstone. Yes, Abu Ad-Dardaa' was not that kind of man, but rather he was the man who took up his sword and struggled with the Prophet of ALLAH (PBUH) since he had embraced Islam till the help and victory of ALLAH came.

However, he was that type who finds himself in his full lively existence whenever he is alone contemplating under shelter of the sanctuary of wisdom, and he dedicated his life to seeking truth and certitude. Abu Ad-Dardaa, the wise man of those great days (May ALLAH be pleased with him)was a person who looked forward to His Prophet (PBUH), and he also believed that this faith, with its duties and understanding, was the only ideal way to truth.

Thus, he was engrossed with his faith, dedicating himself to it and forming his life strictly, wisely and seriously according to it. He walked on that path till he arrived at the truth and took his high position among the truthful ones when communing with his Lord and reciting this verse: <Truly, my prayer and my devotion, my life and my death are all for GOD, the Lord of the Worlds > (6:162).

Yes, the struggle of Abu Ad-Dardaa against and with himself ended in the attainment of this high spiritual position, remote superiority, and personal sacrifice which made him dedicate all his life to ALLAH, the Cherisher of the Worlds.

On the day he embraced Islam and pledged his allegiance to the Prophet (PBUH) in this glorious religion, he was successful trader of Al-Madiinah. he spent a part of his life in trade before he embraced Islam and before the Prophet (PBUH) and the Muslims migrated to Al-Madiinah.

He had just embraced Islam a short time before when.......But, let him complete the speech for us:
I embraced Islam at the hands of the Prophet (PBUH) and I was a trader. I wanted to combine trade and worship, but they would never go together. I abandoned trade and retained worship. Today, it doesn't please me to sell and buy to earn 300 dinars a day, although my shop is at the door of the mosque. I can't say that ALLAH forbids selling, but I'd like to be of those whom neither traffic nor merchandise can divert from remembrance of ALLAH.

There are many good traders, and there are many good and pious persons working in trade. Among the Companions of the Prophet of ALLAH (PBUH), there were men whom neither traffic nor merchandise could divert from the remembrance of ALLAH. But they worked hard to develop their trade and their  money by which they served the cause of Islam and satisfied the needs of the Muslims. But the method of those Companions does not diminish the method of Abu Ad-Dardaa, nor does his method diminish theirs, as everyone is fit for what he is created.

And Abu Ad-Dardaa felt that he was created for what he devoted his life to: excellence in seeking after the truth by practicing the ultimate expression of celibacy according to the faith to which he was guided by ALLAH, His? Prophet and Islam.

Call it mysticism if you wish, but it was the mysticism of a man who had plenty of them keenness of a believer, the capability of a philosopher, the experience of a fighter, and the jurisprudence of the Prophet's Companions. This made his mysticism a lively movement in establishing the soul and not merely shadows of this building.

Yes, that was Abu Ad-Dardaa, the Companion of the Messenger of ALLAH (PBUH) and his pupil. That was Abu Ad-Dardaa, the saint and the wise man, a man who repelled life with both his hands, a man who secluded himself till  he burnished and sanctified his soul and it became a clear mirror so that wisdom, rightness, and good reflected in it. That what made Abu Ad-Dardaa a great teacher and  an upright wise man.

'ABD AR-RAHMAN IBN 'AWF

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH, THE MOST BENEFICENT, THE MOST MERCIFUL

'ABD AR-RAHMAN IBN 'AWF
(Crawling into Paradise!)

One day while Al-Madiinah was calm, heavy dust was accumulating near it till it covered the horizon. The wind pushed these quantities of yellow dust coming from the soft sand of the desert so that they came near the gates of Al-Madiinah, blowing strongly over the streets.

People thought it was a raging storm, but soon they heard beyond the dust the noise of a great caravan. After a while, 700 heavily laden camels were crowding the streets. People were calling each other to see the festive scene and rejoicing at the provisions the caravan might be carrying.

The Mother of the Faithful 'Aa'ishah, (May Allah be pleased with her) heard about the coming caravan and asked, "What's going on in Al-Madiinah?" She was answered, "It's a caravan of "Abd Ar Rahman Ibn 'Awf corning from Syria carrying his goods."

The Mother of the Faithful said, "But can one caravan make all this tremor?" "Yes, Mother of the Faithful. There are 700 camels."

The Mother of the Faithful nodded and looked away as if searching for the memory of a scene she had witnessed or a conversation she had heard, then she said, "I heard the Messenger of ALLAH (PBUH) saying, I saw 'Abd Ar-Rahman Ibn 'Awf crawling into Paradise.

'Abd Ar-Rahman Ibn 'Awf crawling into Paradise! Why does he not jump or hurry into it with the first ones to embrace Islam among the Companions of the Messenger? When some of his friends informed him of what 'Aa'ishah said, he remembered that he heard the Prophet (PBUH) say this hadith more than once in various forms.

'Abdullah bin 'Abbas (The Learned Man and the Sea of Knowledge)

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH THE MOST BENEFICENT, THE MOST MERCIFUL

His name is 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas bin 'Abdul-Muttalib ra, the learned man of this Ummah (Nation), a scholar of Qur'anic exegesis (Tafsir). It was said of him Al-Habr wal-Bahr (the learned Man and the Sea of knowledge).

He was known as Ibn 'Abbas. He was Al-'Abbas eldest son and he occupies an exalted status and high rank among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah saw. He was the cousin of the Messenger of Allah saw and in addition to this, he was one of the foremost Companions, being one of the first to believe in the Message of Muhammad saw.

It has been authentically reported from him that he said: "I and my mother were among the weak and oppressed (who first responded to the call of Islam). I was one of the boys and my mother one of the women (Siyar A'lam An-Nubala', vol. 3.)

Such an exalted status, a high rank and accumulation of blessings come to only a few people: A Companion, cousin of the Prophet saw, a Muslim when still a child and his blessings were completed by extensive knowledge, a superior intellect, piety and righteousness.

A DESCRIPTION OF IBN 'ABBAS

Ibn 'Abbas ra was a big man when he sat, he took the space of two men and extremely handsome. The hair at the front of his head and at the sides was white. He used to color his hair with henna, and it was said with black dye. He wore good clothes and used a lot of perfume, so much so that when he passed by on the road, the women would say: "This is Ibn 'Abbas, or a man with musk." He was tall, distinguished and white of countenance (Al-Isabah, vol. 4.).

HIS WITNESSING OF THE APPEARANCE OF JIBRAIL as

ALLAH is fully Able to show supernatural things at the hands of some of His slaves and if these supernatural thisngs were at the hands of the Messenger of Allah saw, then these are miracles, and if they were for a believing man whom ALLAH choose, then they are tokens of His Favor: and He, the Most Glorified, the Most High 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas ra to receive one of these tokens of His Favor, for he may ALLAH be pleased with him saw Jibrail as with his own eyes.

It is reported on the authority of Ibn 'Abbas ra that he said: I was with my father and the Prophet saw and there was a man with him whom he was talking in confidence and he turned away from my father, so we left his presence and Al-'Abbas said:

Al-'Abbas : "Did you not see your cousin turn away from me?"

Ibn 'Abbas: "There was a man talking in confidence to him."

Al-'Abbas: "Or there was someone with him?".

Ibn 'Abbas: "Yes."

Then Ibn 'Abbas father (Al-'Abbas) returned to Prophet and ask: "Oh, Messenger of Allah! Was there anyone with you just now? because 'Abdullah (Ibn 'Abbas) informed me that there was a man with you speaking in confidence to you."

The Prophet ask 'Abdullah: "Did you see him, oh 'Abdullah?"

Ibn 'Abbas: "Yes".

Then the Prophet explain: "That was Jibrail".

In another version, it was reported that the Messenger of Allah saw said to him (Al-'Abbas): "That was Jibrail and your son will not die until he loses his eyesight and he will be given knowledge." (Al-Bidayah wan- Nihayah, vol. 8.)

When is Lailatul-Qadr...Ya, Ibn 'Abbas?...

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH THE MOST BENEFICENT, THE MOST MERCIFUL

This is story which proves the vastness of his understanding and his ability to exercise logic in matters which are confusing to the people:

It is reported on the authority of Ibn 'Abbas ra that 'Umar bin Al-Khattab rha st with some of the Companions of the Messenger of ALLAH saw from among the Muhajiruun and they mentioned Lailatul-Qadr. Some of them spoke of what they had heard about it and the people disagreed regarding it.

'Umar rha said: "What ails you, Ibn 'Abbas that you remain silent and do not speak? Speak and do not let your youthfulness deter you".

Ibn 'Abbas ra said: "Oh, Commander of the Faithful! Verily, ALLAH, the Most high is Witr (an odd number-in the case of ALLAH, One), and He loves Witr.

He made the days of the week seven.

He created mankind from seven.

He created our sustenance from seven.

He created above us seven heavens

He created below us seven earths

He gave us the seven oft-repeated Verses. (The seven oft-repeated Verses: Surat Al-Fatihah)

He forbade marriage to seven relatives

He divided inheritance in His book among seven.

We prostrate on seven points on our bodies.

The Messenger of ALLAH saw circumambulated the Ka'abah seven times.

The Prophet performed seven circuits between As-Safa and Al-Marwah.

The Prophet stoned the Jamarat  seven times.

In order to fulfill the Command of ALLAH, as written in His Book and He showed it- Lailatul-Qadr during the last seven nights of Ramadan and ALLAH knows better."

'Umar rha was impressed and he said: "No one has confirmed what I heard from the Messenger of ALLAH saw except this boy, whose skull bones have not yet joined together. Verily, the Messenger of ALLAH saw said: "Look for it during, the last ten nights." Oh these people! Who can reply to me in this as Ibn 'Abbas has done?".

BADR: THE TWO ARMIES MEET

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH THE MOST BENEFICENT, THE MOST MERCIFUL

THE TWO ARMIES MEET

When the two parties approached closer and were visible to each other, the Prophet saw began supplicating ALLAH:

"O ALLAH! The proud and arrogant Quraishites are already here rebelling against You and belying Your Messenger. O ALLAH! I am waiting for your victory which You have promised me.I beg You ALLAH to defeat them (the enemies)."

He also gave strict orders that this men would not start fighting until e gave them his final word. He recommended that they use their arrows carefully (sahih Al-Bukhari 2/568) and never resort to sword unless the enemies came very close (Abu Dawud 2/13).

Abu Jahl also prayed for victory, saying: "Our Lord, whichever of the two parties was less kind to his relatives, and brought us what we do not know, then destroy him tomorrow." They were confident that their superior number, equipment and experience would be decisive. ALLAH revealed:

"(O disbelievers) if you ask for a judgement, now has the judgement come unto you and if you cease (to do wrong), it will be better for you, and if you return (to the attack), so shall We return, and your forces will be of no avail to you, however numerous it be, and verily, ALLAH is with the believers." [8:19]

THE FIRST CLASH

The first disbeliever to start the fire of the battle and be its first victim was Al-Aswad bin 'Abdul-Asad Al-Makhzumi, a fierce bad-tempered idolater. He stepped out swearing he would drink from the water basin of the Muslims, otherwise, destroy it or die for it.

He engaged with HAMZAH bin 'Abdul-Muttalib ra, who struck his leg with his sword and dealt him another blow that finished him off inside the basin.

THE DUELING BEGINS

The battle had actually started. Protected by armor and shileds, 'Utbah bin Rabi'ah stepped forth between his brother Shaibah and his son Al-Walid bin 'Utbah from the lines of Quraish and cursed the Muslims. Three young men of the Helpers came out against them: 'Awf and Mu'awwidh-the sons of Harith, and 'Abdullah bin Rawahah. But the Makkans shouted that they had nothing to do with them. They wanted the heads of their cousins. Upon the Prophet saw asked 'Ubaidah bin Al-Harith, Hamzah-his uncle, and his cousin 'Ali to go forward for the combat. The Three duels rapid. Hamzah ra killed Shaibah, while 'Ali rha killed Al-Walid (Mishkat 2/343). 'Ubaidah was seriously wounded but, before he fell, Hamzah fell upon 'Utbah and with a sweep of his sword, cut off his head. 'Ali and Hamzah carried 'Ubaidah back with his leg cut off. He died four or five days later of a disease in the bile duct.

'Ali rha used to swear that ALLAH's words were revealed about them:

"These two opponents (believers and disbelievers), dispute with each other about their Lord." [22:19]

The duel was followed by a few more duels but the Makkans suffered terrible defeats in all the combats and lost some of their most precious lives. They were to much frustrated and angry and fell upon the Muslims to destroy them once and for all. The Muslims, however, after supplicating their Lord, calling upon Him for help, were made to hold to their position and conduct a defensive war plan that was successful enough to inflict heavy losses on the attackers. The Prophet saw used to pray to his Lord persistently day and night to come to their help. When the fierce engagement grew too hot he again began to supplicate his Lord saying:

"O ALLAH! Should this group (of Muslims) be defeated today, You will no longer worshipped."

He continued to call out to his Lord, stretching forth his hands and facing Al-Qiblah, until his cloak fell off his shoulders. Then Abu Bakr rha came, picked up the cloak, and put it back on his shoulder and said: "O Prophet of ALLAH, you have cried out enough to your Lord. He will surely fulfill what He has promised you." Immediate was the response from ALLAH, Who sent down angels from the heavens for the help and assistance of the Prophet saw and his Companions. The Noble Qur'an observes:

"Verily, I am with you, so keep firm those who have believed, I will cast terror into the hearts of those who have disbelieved." [8:12)

ALLAH the All-Mighty also inspired another message to His Messenger saw saying:

"I will help you with a thousand of the angels each behind the other (following one another) in succession." [8:9]

THE DESCENT OF THE ANGELS

The Prophet saw, in his trellis, dozed off a little and then raised his head calling loudly in joy:

"O Abu Bakr, glad tidings are there for you: ALLAH's victory has approached, by ALLAH, I can see Jibreel on his mare in the thick of a sandstorm."

He then came swiftly upon the ground reciting aloud:

"Their multitude will be put to flight, and they will show their backs." [5:45]

At the instance of Jibreel as, the Prophet saw took a handful of gravel, cast it at the enemy and said: :Confusion seize their faces!" as he flung the dust, a violent sandstorm blew into the eyes of the enemies. With respect to this ALLAH says:

"And you (i.e., Muhammad saw) threw not when you did throw but ALLAH threw." [8:17]

THE ASSAULT

Only then did he give clear orders to launch a counter-attack. He was commanding the army, inspiring confidence among his men and encouraged them to fight manfully for the sake of their Lord, reciting the Words of ALLAH:

"And be quick for forgiveness from your Lord and for Paradise as wide as are the heavens and the earth." [3:133]

The spirit he infused into his men was clearly witnessed by the valor of 'Umair, a lad of sixteen, who flung away some dates he was eating crying out: "These (the dates) are holding me back from Paradise." So saying he ran into the thick of battle and died fighting bravely. Unique deeds of valor, deep devotion and full obedience to the Prophet saw were exhibited in the process of the battle.

The army of the believers fought by the power of enthusiasm which the half-hearted warriors of Makkah miserably lacked. A large number of the polytheists were killed and the others began to waver. No wonder! The standard-bearers of Truth were given immediate help, and supernatural agencies (the angels), were sent to their assistance by their Lord to help them defeat the forces of evil.

The records of Hadith speak clearly of the fact that the angels did appear on that day and fought on the side of the Muslims. Ibn 'Abbas ra said: "While on that day a Muslim was chasing a disbelievers and he heard over him the swashing of a whip and the voice of the rider saying: "Go ahead Haizum." He glanced at the polytheist who had (now) fallen down on his back. The Helper came to ALLAH's Messenger saw and related that event to him. The Prophet saw replied: "You have told the truth. This was the help from the third heaven." (Sahih Muslim 2/93).

One of the Helpers captured 'Abbas bin 'Abdul-Muttalib, who said: "O Messenger of ALLAH, by ALLAH, this man did not capture me, I was captured by a man who was bald and had the most handsome face, and who was riding a piebald horse, I cannot see him here among the people." The Helper interrupted: "I captured him, O Messenger of ALLAH. "The Prophet saw replied:
"Be quiet, ALLAH the All-Mighty strengthened you with the help of a noble angel".
